I loved my session with Ann, I have photographed her sister as well their family so it was great to get together and fall right back into place.  She looked great and worked it for the camera.  She made her pink dress, talk about talent, I struggle making a straight curtain, I’m totally impressed!

Another fabulous senior guy I had the pleasure of working with.  Tyrell is down to earth and easy going, he just went with it and tried whatever we threw at him.  Watch for him on the Laurel football field this season.  He is a great kid!  Enjoy your senior year!!!
I always try to take a impromptu mom shot during the session, I can imagine moms grasping this pic when they send their seniors off to school or wherever their lives take them after they graduate.  I love this one of Tyrell and his mom, they are adorable!

This session took place a couple of months ago, and I have been dying to share, but it was under wraps until the magazine hit the newsstands this month. Brianna was an amazing girl, it took her a bit to warm up to the camera, this girl has no idea how gorgeous she is! Look at those eyes and full lips she is stunning. She was nominated for the Simply Amazing Teen by her principle, she was ecstatic when she found out that she had been chosen. I gifted her a senior package valued at over $1000.00 and there wasn’t anyone I would have rather worked with, she was so gracious, thankful and beautiful inside and out. Brianna is a fabulous girl with a bright future ahead of her, I can’t wait to see what she does with her life. Check out this months cover and read the article about Brianna in Simply Family Magazine (here). Congrats Brianna!!!

Sweet 16

When Jordan’s mom called me with her idea a few months ago I was blown away, Jordan was going to have a sweet 16 to remember.  The entire plan was top secret, a full day of activities was planned and when Jordan woke up she was given the itinerary.  She went to the spa, went shopping, out to lunch, got the keys to a car, had a session with me that included her best friends and then she was whisked off to a great dinner.  Needless to say when I saw Jordan she was radiating joy, we had to wait out a rain storm, but the clouds finally parted and we had some fun.  It was fabulous to photograph giddy, giggling girls that were ready to work it for the camera.  Mom told me that Jordan loves photography and looks at my blog regularly, no pressure.  She is a wonderful girl, I can’t wait to do a full out senior extravaganza session next summer with her, she is so bubbly and happy.  Happy Birthday Jordan!  It was great to meet you!!!

Such an Honor

Thursday, September 1, 2011

I’ve been putting off this blog post for the last few weeks, why?  This was such a special session and I every time I sat down to write I couldn’t find the words. I’m still at a loss but here we go – I first met this family through Now I Lay me Down to Sleep, an amazing worldwide organization of photographers that gifts families that have suffered the loss of an infant their services.  I have met so many families over the years but do not ever see or hear from them again, I go in quietly and tenderly, capture images and then send them a cd.  I am with them at one of the most heartbreaking times in their lives.  I was amazed when I met this family, they knew of their babies diagnosis and were able to prepare before he was born, they were peaceful and dealing amazingly well considering the circumstance.  They sent me a lovely, gracious thank you note after the fact but I didn’t expect to hear from them again.  I was overjoyed when Candy called me and told me that they were expecting and that they would be in town this summer for a wedding right after the baby was born, they live 6 hours away so it was a perfect time to capture them with Dustin.  It was wonderful to hold Dustin, a gorgeous, bouncing baby boy and to see how ecstatic they were holding him in their arms.  This first image is when we both lost it, it’s hard to shoot when you are crying but everything came full circle in that moment.  Candy had mentioned to me in prior conversations that she wanted to incorporate her tattoo that she had done in Dutch’s honor in one of the shots.  She envisioned this tattoo after she saw the pictures from the NILMDTS session, when a baby has passed away they put a butterfly on the hospital door so that people who enter know of the fragile circumstance.  She modeled the tattoo after the butterfly, I loved this picture of Dustin, being held by his mommy and connected to his brother at the same time.   This session was amazing, I am so happy for this family!  Congrats on your beautiful baby!

Sometimes clients make my job so easy!  Gabby is gorgeous, as soon as I saw her I knew getting a great shot would be a piece of cake.  Her smile is infectious and lights up everything/everyone around her.  She was such a joy!  I photographed her in the morning and then had the pleasure of working with her again that evening for her best friends surprise sweet 16 session (stay tuned).  So much fun!!! What a great day!

First day of school!

I can’t believe how fast summer flew by, I think the chilly June made our summer days seem even less this year.   The kids were so excited to go to school today and reunite with friends in their classes. Ty of course had to get in the act, he was so bummed that preschool doesn’t start for a couple more weeks, thankfully I was able to pacify him with a play date.  We are so lucky to have had wonderful teachers that make learning fun and interesting, I can’t wait to see what this year brings.  This summer was full of camping excursions in our new camper and lots of other fun things I will share over the next week.  I always want to show you all of my fabulous clients and haven’t been good about posting kid stuff so you will get it all at once.  Happy school year!

J.T.

It was so much fun photographing J.T., even though I came home with literally 43 mosquito bites, we were eaten alive in a field while being chased by a thunderstorm, we had to pull over at one point because the rain was so bad that we couldn’t see 10 feet in front of us, go figure that our destination, only a mile away, was completely dry.   He was a trooper, we just laughed at ourselves looking like complete idiots constantly swatting bugs out of our faces and had a good time.  Never a dull moment, one more reason why I love my job!!

I took some headshots of Shelby for an application in May so I was thrilled when she called for her senior session, I knew we would have a blast!  She has so much personality, talent and the girl knows how to work a camera.  Getting great shots of her showcasing her passion for dance was a must, as well as her favorite formal dress ever.  Shelby is so charismatic, her zest for life is contagious!  I have no doubt that she will do amazing things with her life.

all the way from Hawaii!

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

I first photographed Madison a little over a year ago (here she is), not long after our newborn shoot they moved to Hawaii.  I had corresponded with mom a couple of times throughout the year, she was frustrated that she couldn’t find a photographer that they were in love with in the islands, so I was thrilled and honored when I got the call that they were coming state side for a couple of weeks and that they wanted to include a session as part of their visit.  I love seeing how precious babies grow into little people with distinctive personalities, their interaction with their loving parents is priceless.  Madison was so fun, I love the shots of her in her grass skirt.  Mahalo! I hope to see you again soon!
