Sharing one of my favorite families, I have photographed a wedding, newborn, family and senior pics with them I am always happy when we get to play.  The kids gave grandma the perfect Christmas gift – a session with all of them together.  Timing was a bit tricky with everyones schedule, including college out of town, but we finally made it work.  Thanks guys for a fun afternoon braving the chilly temperatures!

We were going to just photograph the kids –  then decided to pop mom in for one at the last minute – so glad that we did, it’s one of my favorites.  Often there is one particular image from a session that speaks to me, like this first picture on the left.  She put on the colorful sweater that grandma made and lit up, she looks gorgeous, so happy and carefree, she radiates pure joy.  Love it!  The session was fun and active, these sibs have an amazing place to play, learn and grow, it’s obvious to me when looking at these images how much fun they have together!  Thanks!

Its always great when extended families can gather and create some memories, there’s nothing like a little photo session to get the fun started.  This family lives all over the country so it was a big deal when they got together to share the holidays.  It was wonderful to capture their relationships and get different groupings, cousins, just the grownups, everyone together etc.  The mom that lives in Billings and put this session together my heart sing when she told me that Grandma looks at her treasured pics everyday and gets teary every time, it brings her so much joy to see all of her family together.  That is the point of this whole endeavor, to give people art that they value and get joy from, it doesn’t get better than that!

She is so fun, and adorable, that’s a killer combo!

I have worked with this family for years so I was dying when we were doing some snow fight pics, I told them to throw a snow ball at me, hit any part of me but don’t aim for the camera, that would be bad.  I think it only happened because I mentioned it, it was so hilarious, what are the chances of a snowball going right into the lens hood, I was laughing so hard, they felt so bad, it wasn’t a big deal it was just so funny since that was the only place they were supposed to try NOT to hit.  I love the expressions on mom’s and dad’s faces, they must have thought I would freak out.   We tried a few more times and got the great shot that they used for their holiday card.  Everyone was easy smiles after that.  Thanks guys for being such great sports!

You may recognize one of these gorgeous girls from the cover of Simply Family magazine this month.  I have been photographing their family for years and always thought she would make the perfect cover girl, so when a cute elementary school girl was needed I had no doubt she would be a perfect fit.  These pics are from a session I did with her family before we knew about the cover shoot.  We had such a great time playing around, making faces and really showing different sides of their fun personalities.  This last pic was their idea – I loved it!

This was my first time working with this fab family – I can’t wait to watch them grow – (one of my favorite things about my job!)  The kids were so fun and playful with each other, they couldn’t believe I made them kiss their sister but I love how that shot turned out!  oh – and mom and dad were pretty great too:)  Thanks guys for choosing me to capture your family at this time – I loved working with you!!

I think I have met the most active family in the world.  Mom and dad are both runners, bikers, triathletes, and they own Gym Jay  here in town.  They spend tons of time on the mountains in the winter and are always on the move, seemed fitting to take pics with Dad’s vintage bike.  Thanks guys for a a great afternoon!
