the “s” family

Thursday, July 16, 2009

This family was welcoming their tiny baby girl, the boys were so excited and sweet with her. They were a joy to shoot, I got a few of the boys while babe was having a snack. I love the look on the little guy, he was in the process of warming up, I did get great ones of him a minute later but loved this shot of his pouty little face, can you believe those eyes and lips? He is definitely going to be a heartbreaker!

This shot is one of the reasons I love seasoned dads, she pooped all over him, which babies are supposed to do, it means they are doing fabulously, but first time dads aren’t easily convinced when they have poo running down their arm. This dad was AWESOME, he just chuckled and totally went with the flow, he’s my hero.

The wedding season is in full gear – Don and Laura were so great to work with, they were easy, fun and enjoyed their day. My favorite part of the day is being able to steal the bride and groom for their couple time, I love to see them relish each other for a few moments away from everyone else and all the the craziness that wedding days bring. They finally get to relax and really focus on one another. Congrats guys!

I love shots like this, of the bride sharing a laugh with her bridesmaid.

This car had major significance for the couple, the groom’s mom and dad made their getaway after their wedding in this car as well as his brother, so they were more than happy to continue the tradition and out run the huge storm chasing us that afternoon.

Check out this fabulous belly! For the moms privacy, I didn’t include any of her face, although if I would have looked like this at 39 weeks I would have rejoiced and shouted from the rooftops that I was on a photographers blog working it, she looks amazing! I was so glad that she loved her session and gave me the chance to photograph her new little bundle a week later. Congrats!

It’s been busy at the Graham household……

Monday, July 6, 2009

The fourth of July was fun filled here at Graham house, we had some friends over and went crazy with a box of huge fireworks that chris bought at a road side stand. There were some pretty impressive ones, the kit came with rainbow 3d glasses that made the fireworks even more exciting to watch, the kids had them on all night.

Last Wednesday, my mom and I took the kids to Yellowstone to meet up with our friends from Texas, the Taylors. We spent the night at Yellowstone Lake Hotel and then met them for a few hours on Thursday, it was a quick trip, but worth it. Yellowstone amazes every time I pass through, there is always something new to see. The kids loved all of the stinky steam and schluping mud pots, it was quite the adventure. Speaking of adventures, I have six kids under seven this week at my house. wow……we are watching our friend’s kiddos while they are on a cruise so we can do a switcharoo later this fall. I am REALLY looking forward to our cruise in November, has anyone done the Mexican Riviera? Thanks goodness it’s warm, I foresee lots of sprinkler time and hundreds of otter pops being consumed. If you would like to contact me about a shoot, it’s the perfect time, I’ll be home all week, you’ll just have to ignore the excited chaos in the background. 🙂

How adorable is this little guy? I just wanted to eat him up! We did a mini maternity along with a family shoot so that we could capture the family as is before the new bundle arrived. I can’t wait to meet the new babe at our newborn session next week! Congrats again!

I’ve photographed these kiddos mulitple times now and they never fail to amaze me, they’ve got it down. I have loved getting to know them and see their personalities emerge over the last few years. They are so cooperative and ready to play and smile for me. Thanks for a fun evening!

I love when the bride and groom are up for taking their couple pics before the ceremony, then we have time to relax and get great shots without them worrying about waiting guests. Of course when we do this the first glimpse isn’t when they are walking down the aisle, so it’s good to create a moment they can share when they do see each other for the first time that day. I love the look on their faces.

breathe

This week I have been so self absorbed, running like crazy doing shoots and trying to keep on top of editing, it has been insane, don’t get me wrong, I am so thankful that I have work and honored that when people have options they choose me to capture their children, families, and memories, but I realized yesterday as I looked in the backyard to check on the kiddos that I have to remember to breathe. It was a quiet realization……ENJOY.

Enjoy ……the fact that you have an amazingly supportive husband that always helps and steps in without even being asked. He whisked the girls off to a daddy daughter date, a 3d movie, while I kept Ty at home to nap and worked (hence the 3d glasses Hailey loved sporting the rest of the day).

Enjoy ….that while going through old boxes of memories in anticipation of the first garage sale we’ve done in 7 years, we found an old school Darth Vader toy from Chris’ childhood. Ty immediately snatched him up and showed us how he shoots fire, (the poor kid is surrounded by barbies due to older sisters).

Enjoy….the gorgeous summer nights, Chris insisted we take a break from the late work nights and have some friends over for a bbq, kids relished jumping on the tramp then watching a movie while gorging on snacks. The grownups played board games on the deck with a gentle breeze and listened to children laughing in the background.

This summer will go as quickly as my gorgeous, spunky children are growing so I am promising myself that I am going to remember to… enjoy and breathe.
